A day at work – A funny day

The beginning of the day was pretty crazy. We woke up, ate and slowly headed towards the bus station. That’s where Iveco bus picks up the workers and takes them to the fabric. But, we are guessing today, we headed to the station a bit too slow. The pickup is scheduled at 6.30 am everyday. Well today that wasn’t the case. The bus got there at 6.20, we were about 50 meters away from it, when we saw it leaving. We were pissed. In school, it was sad that if we miss the work bus, there is no way you can get to Iveco in time, you might as well stay at home. But we didn’t give up, we quickly ran to the city bus stop. We got on a bus, that took us to another bus station and after that, we had to cross onto another bus. We were anxious, what was gonna happen if we were late. Do the fabric doors for worker entry close at 7 am? We didn’t know. And we didn’t want to find out. We got to the entry doors at 6.57, we took a big breathe and ran to the changing rooms. We got to the workshop a couple of minutes late, but nobody even noticed. We were happy we didn’t disappoint the chiefs by not coming to work.

Let the work begin. After all the hustle just to get to work, we had to dive straight into maintaining a fresh new robot. Worker Teo, told me to solder two wires together, that were connecting the main power source. I did as he sad, with no problem, until I touched one of the red wires. I was shocked with electricity. So, here’s where the fun begins (for Lan and Teo). It was weird, the robot wasn’t plugged into anything, no batteries were connected, so how was there electricity on the wires. When I got shocked, Lan and Teo started laughing. I told Lan, I’m being shocked when I touch the wire, he didn’t believe me, so he tried to touch it. Nothing happened. I was wondering what is happening, I’m I imagining things now? I tried soldering the wire again, I managed to do it without any shocks. I moved on to the blue wire, there it goes again, a shock. I told Lan and Teo, they both touch it, nothing happens, I touch it, nothing happens. I was so confused I didn’t know what to think. They were laughing the whole time. I told Lan, to try and do it. Finally, he got shocked as well. Now I started to laugh. Teo was wondering what is going on, he touched the wire, nothing shocked him. So, sometimes there was current on the wire and sometimes there wasn’t. Teo was thinking hard, we all were. The first explanation was, that the condensators were still storing electricity in them and that they sometimes let the current out. Of course it always happened, when I touched the wire. Teo told us, we can go help another worker, while he tries to figure out what’s going on. A couple of minutes later, he already knew the problem. Somehow there was electricity on the robot itself. The metal outside of it, there was also electricity on the stand that was holding the robot. We still don’t know where it’s coming from, but on it there is still 20 volts. I guess it was just a really weird day for me, a shocking day if i may.
