Making some more parts

On Wednesday I got some more parts to make… But this time I had to make 25 of the same ones and had a deadline till Friday. Their dimensions had to be 180 mm long, 40 mm wide and 10 mm thick. So I took some raw stock which was already 40 mm wide and 10 mm thick and cut it so that every piece was 180 mm long. I also got a rough plan of how the holes had to be positioned…

So I drew some lines on the parts so they showed the centers of the holes and marked them with a center punch and a hammer. When I was happy with the markings I proceeded with drilling the holes, the holes were first drilled with a 8,5 mm drill bit and then enlarged with a 13 mm bit to get them to their final dimensions. In the end I had to widen the top of the holes to fit a screw like this so it would be flush with the metal.

In the end I had to deburr the edges to nobody would cut themselves on the corners… So I did that on the sanding machine to save alot of time instead of doing it with a file.

In the end they were also painted a yellow colour so they would stand out.
