PLC Meets Pneumatics

In our second week, we started with PLC programming, but now weve moved on to PLC combined with pneumatics. It’s really crazy how much we’ve learned in such a short time.

We had to program the PLC so that pneumatic cylinders would move in a sequence based on different tasks. There were ten challenges in total, each one getting harder as we went. Vito and I completed them all and managed to solve every single one.

At first, PLC seemed a bit complicated since I had never worked with it before. But once we knew how to do it it turned out to be really fun. Seeing the cylinders move exactly as we programmed them was really nice.

One of the coolest things was troubleshooting. Sometimes a really tiny mistake in the program would mess up the whole process, so we had to carefully debug and fix our program. It felt like solving a puzzle.

In Slovenia we dont really get to work with this, so experiencing it firsthand was amazing. It’s crazy to think how many machines in factories run on systems just like this.

This was probably one of the most interesting things weve done so far. It wasnt just programming it was real industrial automation in action.
