The last two days in Finland were mostly reserved for researching and discovering all school locations around the Jyväskyla. Their head school is located here in the center of the city. I can tell you, this Gradia school system is huge. In the whole complex, there are around 230 00 students and more than 1000 employees. We visited the media program, car mechanics, and logistics of course. They showed us their 60 years old school which looks just as new. All classrooms are open, walls are made of glass there are a lot of windows and students are more free like busy. Teachers just help them with studying, mainly they are »brainstorming« in little groups. In the workshops they practically just sit around, some of them repairing cars or changing tires.
Today we drove to the Viitaniemi campus, where are settled mostly logistics. They have 2 different programs of logistics; 3 years programs are more like drivers, forklift operators, operators on the excavators, and extra 2 years program for work in offices and performing other logistical work at a higher level. There is a huge yard reserved for practical training as training backward driving trucks, digging and working with excavators, tractors, loading trailers, and basic maintenance for vehicles. Me and Iza were supposed to find packets of chocolates in the warehouse by using a computer system. They have all their tools and accessories stored and marked, so they can not lose them.
Two of their students were driving us around and they are very quiet and shy but I hope we will get to know each other better. For the great end of the day, it even started snowing.
