Different people, different culture

In finland they really do live in a high trust society. One of the biggest shocks for me was when we walked to the nearby lake. There were small boats parked on the shore for the winter with bits of gear still in them. Most of them even left the outboards on. I remember just thinking about how you couldn’t do that in most places and expect to come back with everything still there untouched. One thing that they say about the Finnish people that’s definitely true is that they keep to themselves. When they do talk they do it very quietly at that. This is one of the things I’ve really been enjoying so far. Since I consider myself to be a pretty introverted person. I also haven’t heard anybody blasting music in public which has been really refreshing. Despite the prices in bars being really high, there’s rarely an empty bar. So I guess in some aspects we’re not too different. They’re also way more trusting of their students compared to our schools. Which apparently pays off since I haven’t seen anyone doing anything dangerous. So I guess they really are different in some aspects.
