We didn’t spend the first weekend in Madrid as I would have expected. We all slept a whole day on Saturday as we were still getting used to Spanish life. I started the day by watching the Mountain Jumps and cheering for our jumpers. However, since none of us had the will to go somewhere during the day, we spent almost the whole Saturday in the apartment. Only towards evening we decided to look for some restaurant nearby. We opted for a restaurant called VIPS as it was very close to us and looked good judging by the pictures. There I ordered crispy chicken breasts and fries. After lunch, we went back to the apartment and watched a movie before going to bed. Sunday was more active as we decided to go for a walk in the park of El Retiro, one of the largest parks in Madrid. But first I had to watch ski jumps in the morning. The park was owned by the Spanish monarchy until the late 19th century, and has been a public park ever since. We were walking for around 2 and a half hours soo i could say we were pretty exhausted. Together with the Pasao del Prado, it became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.
