We go to work at 08:00, with public transport. We drive one hour and a half, because company Arealonga is in the neighbouring town Candelaria. We get off a bus just on the bus stop on a motorway. We didn’t feel comfortable at first, but now we’re used to it.
The first working day, the worker gave us an apron and we had to sew on our name and their logo. Then the boss showed our work to us with hands, because nobody in company speaks English.
Then I started with my work. First, I fixed the material with Centiline. Then I cut 40 rectangles, sewed gold bands, that are showing the position of the captains. Finally, I sewed Velcro tape on every side, so they could be attached to the uniform. My classmate was producing thermo prints on umbrellas. The next day we changed positions.
Main job in the company is embroidering and thermo-printing. This is a family business. The husband and the wife are in charge of the company. Also, their son and three other workers are employed in it. They work from 09:30 to 13:30, then they have lunch and they continue at 16:00 and they finish at 20:00.
I like working in the company as we only work from 09:30 to 13:30 and everyone works very slowly and relaxed.
