Danish habits
Over the past two weeks, I have become quite used to living in Denmark. At first, everything was new and strange to me, but over time I have gotten used to their way of life. One of the first things I noticed was their special greeting. Danish people often say “moin”, which means both “hello” and “goodbye”. At first, I thought it was strange that they use the same greeting when arriving and leaving, but I quickly adapted and started using it myself.
Their traffic
I was also surprised by their traffic. Compared to Slovenia, it is much quieter and there are fewer cars on the roads. This is because they have a very well organized public transport system that many people use. Most people prefer to travel by bike or bus rather than by car, which reduces congestion on the roads.
Funny food
Their diet caused me some headche. Danish people often mix fruits and vegetables, which I found very unusual. For example, apples in a salad or grapes with vegetables tasted quite strange to me. I tried a few of these dishes, but I couldn’t get used to these combinations.
Regarding their lifestyle, I expected them to be very quiet and relaxed. They are indeed a bit less loud than Slovenians, but they are not as quiet as I imagined. I liked that, because the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, without any uncomfortable silence.
Downsides of denmark
The only thing I didn’t like about Denmark was the weather. It was often very windy, cloudy and quite cold. I’m not used to this kind of weather, so I found it quite unpleasant. Nevertheless, I tried to enjoy the good things.
Overall, it was a very interesting experience that gave me an insight into a different culture. I learned a lot of new things and now I see how different cultures are in other countries.
