The week started with us making the pattern for classic pants. The Finnish way of pattern-making is more complicated and takes longer than the one at home. First, we sew an easier version of the pants with a light brown try-out material. When that was done we tried the pants on and our classmate pinned all the things we had to fix later on the real pattern for our pants. I wanted bootcut pants that I am making out of black cotton material. When I had everything pinned on the pants I changed the pattern like the pants and measured how wide I wanted the bottoms. Later I drew the pants as wide as I wanted and connected them to the knee line. I placed the pattern on the fabric and measured how much I need. I folded the fabric in half and put all the pattern pieces on. I added the seam allowance on every side. After I started cutting out all of the pieces. For the pocket, I had to use a different fabric that is lighter than the pants so it doesn’t show through. When all that is done I started sewing all the parts together.
