Our first week was a little bit easy, so we decided to go on a day trip. On Sunday morning, we decided to go to Helsinki so we took our first train and travel for a good hour. When we arrived on a railway station, we took a time for coffee first and then decided to ask at information office for the suggestions about things to see while visiting Helsinki.
At first, we took a bus to the ZOO and spent some time for admiring animals. Here they have many animals that Ljubljana’s ZOO doesn’t. Anyway, I thought they would have penguins, because it’s also really cold here, but they didn`t have them. I was somehow surprised, but okay.
After a few hours, we got back in town and took some free time for lunch. Then we went to see their traditional library. It is enormous, very good organized and interesting to walk through. You can order a drink like coffee or juice, it’s allowed to have meetings there, there is a place for children to play, big selection of books and tiny cubicles and relaxing balls for a quiet reading. It is very nice!
Later on, we took a quick look of the church, which was quite an attraction of Helsinki too, because it is all made of stone and tiny stone boxes. Then we took a trolley just to see how it’s like to ride in it and it was pretty cool!
Before boarding on a train back to Lahti, we went souvenir shopping.
