Christmas

Their holidays don’t differ much from ours.

There are lights everywhere just like in Slovenia and the rest of the world. It’s became normal to hang up lights in the beginning of november but I think that’s way too soon and they should be hung up in the beginning of december. Because there is Santa’s village in Finland, Rovaniemi, they celebrate christmas differently than most of the population. Their main day is the Christmas Eve so 24th of december, unlike 25th of december for most of the world. They spend time with family, decorate a tree and drink ”glögi” (mulled wine) and do the essential Finnish thing- bathing in a Christmas sauna. on the north of Finland it must be really beautiful in the night because of snow and northern polar lights.

So even though it’s 2000km apart, we don’t live so differently.
