PUTTING THINGS BACK TOGETHER

When my journey came to an end, I was responsible for the Renault van which needed to be put back together.

As I explained in another blog, I disassembly the front of Renault so when Marcos came to work, we took out the motor. I moved all the parts from the old to a new engine block, and Marcos set the timing belt, so that the pistons and valves were set correctly. We installed transmission to the motor, with which we had a little bit of trouble putting together. Then it was time to put it back in and it went quite easy.

Then I fasten the transmission bolts, so it stays at place and after that we fasten engine bridge. Marcos then needed to connect all the hoses and electrical connectors which took him quite a while. And then it was my turn to put on crushing zone at the front and all plastic pieces, lights and connectors, front bumper, grill, the hood, windscreen wipers.

Meanwhile Marcos put together the motor and it was ready to test start, at first there was some strange banging noise, but after I went to look in the engine bay there was one plastic bracket not fasten down and it was skated on the fan. I fasten the bracket and we tried another time and it was running smooth and without any problems. I installed the wheels at the front and drive shaft, because it was rear wheel drive van. I lifted the front so I was able to remove jack stand for extra security. I finished all in time that was planned for last day, because there were no one around when I disassembled the front and no one didn’t know where the bolts fit.
