Since the first try of visiting Helsinki didn’t really go according to the plan we decided to visit the capital again. This time with three classmates from our host school. We decided to leave in the morning, to have the most of the day. After the 1 hour train ride we finally arrived to Helsinki. The first stop was The museum of contemporary arts Helsinki – Kiasma. It didn’t take long to find it since it’s quite an interesting looking building and hard to miss. The museum was really big and it had a bunch of different exhibitions. I really liked Simon Fujiwara’s, because it talked about identity. Another absolutely beautiful piece was a short movie by Samira Elagoz and Z Walsh. After spending quite a lot of time at the museum, we visited Oodi library. It was absolutely huge and really modern. They have a bunch of different equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, gaming consoles,… There’s also a lot of different workshops and events happening all the time. After doing all these different viewings of everything, we decided to do my absolutely favourite thing in the world. Charity shopping!! We took a short walk to the first shop, where I found a few things that I liked but didn’t really love, so I didn’t buy anything. They we decided to look for a few more shops, where I finally found a few interesting pieces. I had to be a tad bit more carefully with my shopping because of the limited space in my suitcase. I really like that charity shops here also have every day objects like books, cutlery, different tea cups,… After all this walking we went to the shopping centre to grab some food. Afterwards we went to a few more shops, even a Moomin shop which I absolutely adored, since I used to love this cartoon as a child (I still do). After this long day it was time to get back. We took the train which was a lot fuller than the one in the morning. And after this amazing but tiring day we got back to Lahti. The trip was really fun and I’m really glad that it happened.
