The day of departure for our exchange finally arrived on April 7th. We started our journey at a gas station in Ivančna Gorica and then proceeded to Zagreb airport, where we arrived at 8:30. The view from the plane was spectacular due to the clear weather, offering breathtaking scenery of Slovenia and other countries from above.
Upon landing, we collected our bags and grabbed a quick bite at Burger King. However, I was very disappointed by the food quality and the high prices compared to what we were used to in Slovenia.
While waiting, we discovered that our train was canceled. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this soon enough to catch the replacement transport, which led us to purchase new tickets and wait an additional 2 hours at the airport.
During the train journey, a surprising incident occurred when two policemen boarded to remove a passenger. This caused us to miss our connecting train, leaving us no choice but to board a crowded local train.
Finally arriving in Herning, the owner of the apartment was waiting for us and drove us to our accommodation in Hammerum. After settling into our apartment, we went to the nearest store to buy food. Our dinner that evening consisted of homemade salami sandwiches.
Despite the challenges during our journey, settling into Herning felt like a relief.
