Today we started extra early because we had to be there at 6.00am already dressed and prepared to work. My co-worker/mentor Sasha showed me where I will be working and what I will be doing in the upcoming month. He handed me off to a man who explained to me all the safety guidelines so I or somebody I work with doesn’t get hurt, he also took me around the Mercedes-Benz AMG SL and SLC assembly line to show me some of the safety hazards. When we were done I tagged along an electrician and his apprentice for a full in depth guide of the whole factory… but it was all in German, so I had to listen really carefully and look for words that I understand so I could get some context to the situation that is going on around me. We again took an in depth look at the SL and SLC assembly line, then we took a look at where they put together some of the carbon fiber parts to form a part of the frame. There we also saw a robot that puts together the antenna for the GPS, telephone and radio. In another hall we saw a production line for the GLC model and the tests that they do on them to ensure their quality. We also looked at where they replace and repair broken parts. At the end of the tour we had a small break and after that my mentor gave me an assingment to draw an adaptor plate for a Siemens controller, but the actual part will be made tomorrow. So that concludes my first day at work.
