NASINNEULA TOWER

NASINNEULA TOWER

On nice sunny Sunday we decided to go on a very high tower with great view. The tower was 30 minutes of walking away from the hostel so it was a nice walk. We came to the tower paid the tickets and went in the elevator. I also searched for some other information about the tower.  It was built in 1970–1971. It is the tallest free-standing structure in Finland and at present the tallest observation tower in the Nordic countries at a height of 168 meters and the idea was taken from the Puijo Tower.

The base of the tower is at about 15 metres of elevation from lake Näsijärvi. There are two elevators, made by Valmet-Schlieren. The elevators go up to a height of 120 metres, to the Pilvilinna (“Cloud Castle”) café. The restaurant (called Näsinneula) is one story higher.

We went on the top and had a coffe with a great view. After the coffe we went on a frozen lake walk (about 4 km) and had sausages near the lighthouse on the lake. After that we went back to hostel to get some rest.
