MY EXPECTATIONS

I’ve got pretty high expectations for the exchange. Ever since I learned there is a possibility for me to go to another country for 4 weeks, I was determined to do anything I could to make this happen. I was told already before I even started high school that students from the logistic program usually go on exchange to Finland, which was always one of the top countries I wanted to visit, and I am totally thrilled that I am going there in less than 2 weeks.

I hope that I could see as many things and places as possible. I want to get to know all of Jyvaskyla – where me and my schoolmate will be staying – I hope we could go and see the places where other students from our school will be staying, and I hope we could go on a trip to Helsinki. Me and my schoolmate were also looking up the possibilities for us to go on a weekend trip to Tallin, since it isn’t too far. I know Finland is a lot bigger than Slovenia and it takes a lot more time to see everything, but I am trying to stay optimistic, and I believe that with good organisation and a bit of luck I can do everything I set my mind to. Beside all the places I want to see, I also hope to meet some new friends and get to know their lifestyle. It is always interesting to see how people in different countries have such a different culture, different outlook on the world and overall different ways of living.

Most of all I’m excited to see what the school system is like in Finland. Given that I will be doing an internship at school, I will see both how the schooling goes and how Finish people relate to logistics itself. Our teacher, who has been there with the exchange students before many times, told us some stories about things he found interesting, weird, etc., and it really makes you believe it is going to be a completely different world.

To say that I am excited would be a complete understatement. I just hope I won’t be too disappointed.
