THAT WAS ONE LONG DAY

On Sunday at midnight our eagerly awaited trip to Finland finally started. I said goodbye to my friends and family, took my things and hit the road.

My dad took me to our school where two vans picked us up to get us to the Graz Airport. We checked in on our flight and waited for the flight for about two hours. While waiting me and Miha got to know Mojca and Anže, students from the other logistics class, who are going to the exchange in Lahti with two other girls from the textile program. We talked about our teachers and exchanged some of the funny stories that have happened during our schooling at SIC Ljubljana. We got along quite well so the time passed by very fast.

At 6 am we took off for the first time. I was nervous since it was my first time flying ever, but once we were above the clouds it wasn’t that bad at all. The only thing bothering me was the fact I haven’t slept before leaving home, but the plane was very small and consequently very uncomfortable, so I couldn’t get any rest at all. I was looking through the window and soon enough saw the sun rising. The sky was covered in the most beautiful colors I’ve ever seen. Sadly the joy of watching the sunrise ended fast when we started drowning in fog as we descended towards the airport.

We landed at Munich Airport and went straight to the gate for our next flight. Before the next flight we had a lot of time, so I tried to sleep but once again no luck with that.

My last chance of getting any repose was our flight form Munich to Helsinki. When we boarded on the plane I was convinced, there wasn’t even the slightest chance of me falling asleep there, since it seemed just as uncomfortable as the first plane. However I was completely exhausted at this point and fell asleep before the plane even took off. I woke up in an hour and a half in pain from the strange position I was sleeping in. Because the flight lasted for another 2 hours me, Miha and Anže chatted and laughed a bit.

When we landed in Helsinki the doors didn’t work, so we had to use the emergency door which was exciting. Next, we walked across the whole airport to get our luggage and got to our train to Tikkurila. Everyone was hungry when we got there, so we decided to go get some food. One of the teachers bought us 3 pizzas, but we didn’t get a place to sit, so we stood in the middle of a hall with the pizzas on top of a suitcase. We probably looked like a bunch of homeless people, but we could care less as long as we had food. After eating, we went to the platform of our train and separated with the other two groups.
