This past week, I had the opportunity to learn CAM (computer-aided machining) programming using the MasterCam program. I was excited to learn this new skill. We started with the basics of setting up a program for toolpath planning, followed by exercises that guided us through the process of tool path planning, tool selection, and the parameters required for efficient machine operation and good product quality. Then, there were more practical exercises, including a technical drawing with specified tolerance zones to consider when designing the toolpaths. Most of our work focused on programs for a lathe with two Z and X axes, and we also worked on exercises that required us to use the third C axis.
After school, I’ve been trying out different cycling routes to and from school and discovered five different routes. I’ve also been exploring my culinary skills by cooking something new almost daily.
