Last weekend when I was in Barcelona with my friends we decided late at night when we had nothing to do that we would walk around Barcelona and search for souvenir shops where we would buy random stuff for low prices. If anyone doesn’t know what is haggling is basically trying to get a discounted price for example if a T-shirt is 20 euros we would say that we would only give 10 euros and then he can counter offer and say for example 15 euros and this just goes on and on until either of you give up or you agree on a price. The first shop that we went to we saw a scarf from FC Barcelona and we wanted to buy it for fun really and just wear it around Barcelona. The negotiating didn’t went to good because it went like this the official price was 18 euros and he said to me that this was original and I said immediatly that there is no way this is original and he kept convincing me that it is but in the end I just said “yea yea okey” first I said I will give him 8 euros he said no way and counter offered to 12 euros then I said 10 euros and he didnt budge and was still standing on 12 euros then I tried to buy it again for 10 euros and he said “goodbye goodbye” and this is where my mistake comes in I imediatlly agreed upon his price of 12 euros. In this case I should have said okay and just leave because in most cases when you are leaving the store they would try to bring you back and sell you the item at the price you first said. In this case I didnt do it but at least I saved 6 euros. The next store my friend wanted a T-shirt with a viking on it and I started negotiating and the T-shirt was 20 euros and I offered her 8 euros the seller counter offered and said 12 euros I said 10 euros take it or leave it then he tried with his offer of 12 euros once again and I said no and wanted to walk away but in the end she said that its okay and that she would sell it for 10 euros and in this case I saved 10 euros. This whole adventure was actually very fun i recommend to everyone to try it one time because you can get such silly items at such a low price.
