I don’t really know what to expect still, because it’s a little confusing. Throughout the city, you can find a lot of different styles, with places being old, modern and sort of mixed. We’ll see how it will continue or have we just been between the oldtown and the modern areas of the city.
We arrived in Zaragoza with the coach dropping us out at an underground station, which sounds quite modern, but it in fact looked quite abandoned, empty and in disrepair. Something that unnecessarily emphasized that for me was the particular style of the station, with it being constructed with just bare concrete and nothing to lighten the area up. It was a very large station, with the reason that it had trains, buses and other facilities at one place, easy to get lost at, I thought. With us arriving in Zaragoza, we instantly got to finding out where the most important place is, the bathroom. With the nearest being in the station, with it actually being the most modern and good-looking bathroom I ever saw. There still is hope that the city could be very beautiful, I thought. Later we got to meet Alex, the organizer at the Spanish side. He is very friendly, and is always available, if we need something. He showed us how to get to the apartment, and then later escorted us to it. On the way to it we had to go on one bus, obviously it was full, no surprises here. Alex told us later, that it full, because of the market, just finishing at that time of day. At the bus stop when we got off, we crossed the main road, got through a narrow passage, into a lovely little neighbourhood, where our apartment was. It looked a little old, but safe and comfortable. Unfortunately, our apartment had no lift, so we needed to carry our suitcases 2 floors, through a very narrow staircase. The lift is being build right now and I hope it will get finished when we go back home. The apartment looked very old, “grandma style”, to poke some fun, but also looked very comfortable.
I also got a new, ultra-modern radiator in my room, yes, I got an ultra-modern radiator in my “grandma style” bedroom, that is a weird site. The radiator has also various features that work via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with also a special app that can be downloaded on my phone. I still don’t really know how it works, but it works now. Maybe it had to do something with me contacting the apartment owner and looking at the instruction manual… I repeat that I still don’t know how it works, but it works. The bed is comfortable. For me it is more like a hotel style bed, that’s how I would describe it. I got no storage space, but I got two beds in my room. I had the idea, of why not using one for lying my clothes on it?
Nevertheless, with the old style, the apartment is very comfortable. The places around the city have a mixed kind of feel, some modern stuff mixed in with some old details. I think we will enjoy our time in Spain and I can’t wait, what will come next.
