Going to Erasmus is a great and sometimes scary experience. Why because you know you’ll have to take care of yourself for one month. For me personally, I think it’s a great experience, but the only thing I was most afraid of was flying. Ever since I was little, I was scared of heights.
Before going on that flight I had many feelings like scared, excited nerves, and so on. The only thing I was really scared of was a turbulence. While flying, we had maybe a really small turbulent. As a first time flyer I wasn’t that scared. Maybe at first when you take off it feels a bit scary but after a while you’re up there you get used to it.The food we got on the plane wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be it not something fancy or homemade food your mom used to make but is some. I think it really depends on which airline you’re flying with. Our journey to Finland was with 2 flights. First one was in Istanbul and second to Finland, Helsinki. Istanbul airport was massive. It was bigger than thought. You can also get lost really quickly. With Tinkara we were walking about 30 mins till we found our new gate. After that was the second flight and this time in Helsinki. In my opinion, when you are buying tickets for a flight you should always pre book a seat that you want. I was a little unlucky to get a middle seat, but I got through it.After 4 hours flight we finally got to Helsinki where we went on a 1,5h train to Lahti and got into our apartment. I think after that experience I will fly more because even if it seems scary and awful it’s not. Because I learned a few rules. First you should always pre book a seat for a flight, second you should always find the best airline, third don’t expect fancy food on a plane and fourth it better if you always take a friend or family with you.
