Our teacher thought about a great idea, to go to the west side of Denmark to see the beach and beautiful towns in which Vikings were living sentries ago. That day we didn’t go to school, but we still started early like we would go to school. Our teachers picked us up in front of the student dorm at 7:20, then we started right away. The first destination was around 100 km away, however time flew by very quick, because of good company. First, we went to an island called Romo. There we walked on a sandy beach, we were early so there wasn’t many people there. Some people even drove with cars on it. I think that’s not very smart, because most of the beach was covered by salty water. There were thousands of shells washed on it and a beautiful view of the sea.
Next destination was an old town called Ribe. This town has a very rich history, first documents found dated back to year 854. Its Scandinavians oldest city. Back in the day it was very known by the Vikings, because it was one of the main trading cities in Scandinavia. Very beautiful little town I must say. Some of the building there were so old that they weren’t even straight any more. The best thing for me in that town was the cathedral. It was huge and it is also the oldest church in Scandinavia.
Last destination was to see the duns at more northern city called Hvide Sande, which means white sand. There were more houses that I thought there was going to be. The land scape was very beautiful. Then we were searching for a fast-food place to eat, because we were very hungry. We found a Mc Donald’s nearby. Our eyes were bigger then our stomachs, so we ordered so much food, we could barely walk.
Ride home was quite long. We were 250 kilometres away from our home and it was already night. First few hours we were sleepy, but then we listened to more up-beat music and we were right awake. Roads in Denmark are mostly straight and very smooth. I appreciate our teachers for taking us there. We were at home at 19:30, so it was a twelve-hour trip and it was worth it.
