SønderborgWhen we went on a trip to Flensburg we went to the Maritime Museum. First, we looked at the history of the city. We saw a lot of ship models and objects like weapons, tools, and old navigation equipment. It was really interesting to see how people lived in the past. After that, we watched a film that lasted for 30 minutes. It explained a lot about the citys development over time and how important trading was for its growth. We also learned that the sugar and rum was very popular here and played a big role in the city’s economy and wealth.
In the second building we visited an exhibition of ship models. Some were so small that they could fit in my hand, there was allso a ship cabin in the museum. The details on them were amazing. We also saw models of all the ships that had ever been in Flensburg. It was impressive to see how shipbuilding and need for ships changed over time.
In the third building, we visited a technical museum. It showed how different engines worked, from old steam engines to more moderen. There were also various ship parts on display like pistons and old navigation systems. It was really interesting to see how everything was built and functioned back in the day. The museum had a lot of interactive exhibits which all worked and made the experience even better. I really enjoyed the visit because I learned a lot about ships and the history of Flensburg.
