Never in a million years have I thought I would be able to visit Finland. Nonetheless, I got this amazing opportunity, which started on a Sunday, at 1 in the morning.
We started off in front of our school with two vans. Funny thing is, that once again I met new students from our school, so the trip wasn’t boring at all. When we arrived at the airport in Graz we went through first obstacle, because the airport didn’t open for another hour or so. Besides, that was a perfect chance to get to know each other a bit more.
From Graz we flew to Munich with a plane so small that we felt like sardines smooshed between those seats. Although it was still pretty dark outside during the flight, when we came above the clouds the sunrise was breathtaking. I slept during the whole thing so I’m glad my friend took pictures that I’m going to show at home. We then went to Helsinki also by plane which was just as wonderful (I slept during this flight also).
We had a little extra time while we waited for the train to Lahti so we looked around, then ate some pizza, which was the best I ever ate…maybe because I was extremally hungry.
We arrived to our aparthotel at around four o’clock, so that means we had about 15 hours of travelling behind us. We were really exhausted but before we realised our hotel is self-service, 30 minutes has passed.
Our day ended in our beds and it didn’t even matter if they were comfortable or not, since we were fast asleep. We woke up full of energy and enthusiasm to start the first day in school.
