A DISASTROUS DAY
Okay, okay so the past Sunday was a rough day to be honest. So it didn’t start off that bad, I didn’t miss my alarm clock or slept in, but I did spill boiling hot tea all over myself as if i wasn’t already in a hurry. Not even mentioning that I accidently locked myself in the basement and my phone stopped working properly. I took a few deep breaths and decided you know what “let’s pretend that didn’t just happen and give it another go”. And with an optimistic mindset that was just what I did. After I got my ridiculously heavy suitcase down from our third story apartment I headed to the airport. On my way there I got a good 30 minute nap, since I slept for three hours. In case you’re wondering why I slept for three hours, my only excuse is that “I stayed up packing till 3am, because I’m a procrastinator”. Okay great, so I didn’t miss my flight, you know what “I’m not even late, everything is gonna be just fine, and we are going to have a smooth flight”. Checking in, weighing our suitcases, blah, blah, blah, you know boring airport stuff, but of course something had to go wrong. Consequently since I can never decide what to wear I’m an overpacker and guess what “i over packed” and not just “overpacked” by 2, 3 pounds like a normal person, somehow I “OVER PACKED” my suitcase by 20 pounds. Gonna be honest I’ve never hated a scale more in my life. So as you can imagine, I was already tired, hangry and cranky by 4pm when we arrived in Madrid. But that was when I found out that I’d had to be dragging my 70 pound suitcase all across the metro up and down a million stairs, while wearing three jackets and two coats as if I wasn’t already hot enough. Whatever, I think to myself, It’s my fault that I overpacked in the first place, thank god Nina and my teacher were nice enough to help me out with my luggage. Finally, in three hours, after getting lost five times along the way we finally got to our apartment. Which at first glance looked great, well I guess “don’t believe everything you see”. We get ready for bed, ready to crawl into a warm, cozy bed, just to find out that the bed sheets stink really bad, like really bad. Okay we will just wash them and sleep on the floor for the night, but to our surprise that was dirty too. Okay, since we see we have quite a night ahead of us, we start deep cleaning the whole apartment and after finishing we decide to take a shower, which was very difficult because the pipe was leaking. After showering to the best of our abilities, we go to bed, or should I say the “floor”. To be honest, I woke up with back pain, and a horrible migraine from being dehydrated. But don’t worry, I’m not a huge pessimist, the first day was just a bit rough, but we are getting used to Madrid and if i’m honest I really came to like it.
