If I compare the languages Slovenian and Finnish, they are like night and day.
Even if I wanted to understand them, it would be very difficult, because they don’t understand us. If you want to converse, you might be able to do so in English, but it’s not as hard as you think. It’s hard to get used to their food, or I would really miss the Slovenian way of cooking. The first few days we watched their food from the side, but now it’s changed. Even for brunch, when we cook something Slovenian, they seem very surprised by how we eat. Occasionally, we go for a snack to a nearby restaurant and I got used to the food. I have eaten elk but I like Slovenian venison better, maybe it depends on the preparation but anyway. I have noticed that all the prices are higher than here, but it is true that the payments are also higher. They do not care about normal life because they are used to it. I have nothing against the beauty of Finland, but they do take advantage of it for tourism and extra income. They have a very cold winter and the sun only shows up for 2 hours, so I’d rather stay in Slovenia as far as that’s concerned. But they have a habit that when it snows, all the young people go drifting in cars. They have few police and can be enforced in car parks and on the roads, but if you are put in by a policeman the penalties are as high as your property. I saw a lot of new things during my month in Finland, but I can’t wait to come back to Slovenia.
