The second company I was at was called Avanza; it is a private public transportation company. The company is very big, with-it being part of an international company called Mobility ADO.
The day started at the entrance of the company, where there were ramps for vehicles, which were guarded by a security guard. Unfortunately, he didn’t know any English, but he just barely understood the name of the person we were looking for, our mentor at the company. He then escorted us to his office. He was in charge of the maintenance department of the company. He also teaches in the school, where we were studying at, so maybe he will teach us some classes in the next week. Later we went to the main offices of the company, because his personal office was in the company’s workshops. We were later then showed the operation’s department rooms, where they track buses and manage unforeseen events. They will soon get a new room, where everybody will be together, which will provide a better and improved workplace environment, with better computers and bigger computer screens, which will have new generation software and programs on them. They work mostly with a tracking system, which tracks buses live and provides information on them, like how early and how late they are. If needs be, they can also call the driver if something wrong, if he’s early or late, to make him slow down or to take a shortcut to reduce how late he is.
We also needed to make a presentation, comparing how passenger transport differs from here to how it is in Slovenia. We were given plenty of time to make the presentation and prepare for the presentation. On the last day we also presented our presentation. Later we sent our presentation to our mentor. In the presentation they had learned the differences between the companies LPP and Avanza.
It was very fun to work there, mostly because every time there was something new to see. I had also learned how a company with the same purpose, would do something just a little different.
