As I was exploring Tampere I stumbled into the local park. The forest was densely populated by spruce trees covered in snow, with a narrow path carved between them. In the middle of the park there stood a tall tower made of brick. I climbed the many stepps until I reached the top where a small wooden door opened the door to the roof. On the roof is where I could see 20km away as it was a bit foggy.
As I am observing the beautiful surroundings I eavesdrop to a conversation between a Canadian and Finish person talking about Tampere. The Finish man was talking about many interesting things like how the ice cracks in the same spot every year, and how Tampere began its transformation from a large town into a city, as more and more people move to live here. Where was once a forest next to the shore of the lake, has now transformed into apartment buildings. Round the city you can see many residential construction sites.
Near the city center you can also see some very modern looking skyscrapers, hotels, casinos and a new ice-hockey arena.
